The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradbury

My new heroine is Flavia de Luce.   She lives in an English manor house in 1950, and her greatest passions are chemistry and solving murder mysteries.  This book is so much fun, even if you don't remember all your chemistry, because she is constantly referring to it as well a lot of other things.  She finds a man dying in their cucumber patch early one morning and sets out to find the killer.  Simple, yet so much fun.  I loved this book and am anxious for our spring order which will have the next two Flavia books.

This pie is what I want to learn how to bake. I know that my skills aren't up to par with yours, but I truly do want to eat this pie. I think that if I am able to bake it for myself, then it would taste a lot better. I will practice everyday until I get it right, that is what I want to try doing. Let me know if you have a slot for an apprentice, sir.
